CONGRATULATIONS DANENE!
If you didn’t get my barrage of Facebook posts and updates of this weekend’s Fittest of the Sierras competition, you didn’t see Danene practically sweep her division. Now a couple things to mention. It is true that her field of competition was small, HOWEVER, looking at the scores from each division, including the “bad ass young bucks”, she held her own! In event 1, she beat all but 2 women and 5 men out of 105 total athletes. Plus, she would have placed 5th in both events 3 and 5 if she was in the women’s open division, which had 46 women, including several regional and games’ athletes. It goes without saying how incredibly proud I am. She’ll be the first to downplay these achievements, but do not let her.
I also want to give a big shout out to EJ, who drove all the way from Utah to participate in this comp. He pushed his comfort zone and capacity to the limits. I was very impressed with his performance in the “bar muscle up” event and down right inspired with his determination to finish the final event within the time cap. GREAT JOB EJ!
